Field Testing & Inspection Services

Another major branch of the Sierra Testing Laboratories, Inc (STL)quality control matrix is the field testing and inspection department. The field service staff has been selected and retained over the years, amassing a great body of knowledge and experience in numerous aspects of field testing and inspection, including but not limited to:

• Soils and Aggregates Testing Technicians – Performing proper sampling techniques to obtain representative materials for lab testing; Conducting in-place density testing; Visual classification of soils.

• Concrete and Masonry Testing Technicians – Performing proper sampling and testing techniques, complying with the ASTM Standards set forth in the American Concrete Institute (ACI) training and certification that each technician receives.

• Special Inspectors and Technicians – Trained and experienced in the respective fields of:

o Steel and Rebar
o Welding
o SWPPP
o Water Sampling and Turbidity Monitoring
o Seismic Monitoring
o Asphalt and Concrete Core Sampling

• Engineering Geologists – Performing site specific geological assessment and planning. Areas of application include: subsurface drilling programs and resultant testing program development; Borrow site investigation and recommendations for levee embankment construction.

• Professional Engineers – Providing on-site evaluation, technical assistance, and assessment of design criteria and construction methods. Review of field and laboratory test results, inspector’s daily field reports and material certificates. Field observation of performance-based construction methods.
